The stars represent the sacred fire of our dreams

Philosophy

Founded in 2021 by Romina Carparelli, Calisto Wines is a personal project that was born from her desire to create a brand of her own and open a path of transformation in winemaking.

Calisto, the most beautiful of the nymphs in Greek mythology, was a hunter who belonged to the court of Artemis, for which she had taken her vow of chastity.

The story goes that Zeus fell in love with her and, as a result of this relationship, she became pregnant. For this reason, she was exiled and turned into Ursa, having to wander for years in the forest.

Uco Valley

Region: Mendoza, Argentina

Elevations: 2600 to 5300 feet (800 to 1600 meters)

The mythical Route 40 is the great tourist gateway that runs through the Uco Valley, connecting San Carlos, Tunuyán and Tupungato. It is a real-life postcard, framed between the Cordón del Plata and the Cordón del Portillo, with a view crowned by the Cerro Tupungato, which dominates all the land.

This area is one of the main wine-growing regions of the province, characterized by the implantation of new vineyard hectares, especially of red grapes. It is also an important pole of development due to investments, improvements in infrastructure, improvement of drip irrigation systems, changes in the productive structure, and demand for labor.

In the Uco Valley, winters are harsh and summers are hot, with mild or warm days and very cold nights. The daily temperature range is of about 15°C (59ºF), which favors very good color and tannin production in the grapes and provides the perfect raw materials to obtain wines ideal for cellaring. Frost and hail are two factors that frequently cause crop losses, in some cases quite significantly.
